Rhythm, harmony, unity — whatever you want to call it, literally makes the world go round! Think about what would happen without God’s good rule that runs the universe! or the engineering that makes your car start 99.9% of the time. Harmony — is a beautiful thing! But we often take it for granted, until it’s lacking. For the people of psalm 133, making their way up to Jerusalem for one of the yearly festivals, singing as they went, harmony was something to be celebrated, something that gave meaning and purpose to their trek. Singing this short song across the ages, the people then, call us now, to behold the great value and desirability — of harmony! being at peace with God so we can be at peace with one another.
